Jane heard the footsteps before she smelt the other vampire. It was rather curious as her smell was supposed to be better than her hearing. Nevertheless, a faint thud, thud sound echoed in her ears as she brushed off the remains of the boulder and stood, her cloak billowing about yet again and briefly, the young vampire wondered if she could just take it off but reminded herself that it was formal attire to be worn as a member of the Volturi so instead, she suffered the heat that it caused and the way it swooshed around her ankles, surely causing a future trip or something. Finally ignoring her cloak for a moment, Jane lifted her head to the sky and curiously furrowed her eyebrows with a slight sniff in the scent's general direction. Idly, her deft fingers played with her hair until, abruptly, her pale fingers clenched around a fistful as her blood red eyes narrowed. The smell of blood was strong on this vampire. A newborn, that was what she thought. Or maybe not. The best she could hope for was an experienced non-veggie vampire because newborns were the hardest to deal with even if they were also the easiest to recruit. Or maybe this vampire was a veggie. Then the blood might be of an animal. It was confusing as many humans scents were mingled with this vampire's and silently, Jane cursed herself for coming to a place where there were so many humans that could easily confuse her smell. Nevertheless, she worked around it skillfully like she always had to do in Italy and found that there was the distinct smell of blood but from human or animal, Jane had yet to figure out. Either way, Jane was on guard. With a soft growl, Jane shifted slightly into a defensive crouch but it almost seemed as if she hadn't moved at all but the changes were evident as the vampire came into view.
The vampire was pale, like all of the vampiric race, and as he stepped into the sun, and without a cloak, his skin was vulnerable to the effects of the sun on vampires. The sun shone brighter ever so slightly and his skin sparkled like it was made of a thousand diamonds. Instead of gaping like a human would do, this just made Jane frown and glance around nervously. If a human were to see...Quickly, Jane threw the newcomer vampire a large cloak from which she had been given from Aro as a spare although it was way too large. The velvety red and black cloak landed on his head and Jane had to stifle her giggles, the only reason why she did was because she realized what she was wearing wasn't far from ridiculous being a velvet (And very itchy) dress of a gold waistband and her mandatory black cloak with her red eyes visible. She probably looked like a cosplay person or something. Realizing how stupid she was, Jane quickly shoved blue contacts on, it was the very least she could do to disguise herself. Hopefully, no human had seen. What would it matter anyway? They'd think she was a cosplay actress or something of those sorts. Studying the make vampire further warily, Jane found that he looked much older than her, around his mid-twenties, with crimson eyes also. A newborn, then? Growling, Jane strode toward him and shoved a pair of murky brown contacts into his hands.
"Wear them, if not, I'll be forced to hurt you," She threatened, low and steady as she stared at the vampire under her long eyelashes with her own blue contacts, She hoped she looked threateningly enough as she didn't want the humans to have the slightest clue of vampires existence even though she'd already messed up earlier. If he was to go parading around with his red eyes in plain site, she's faint and the humans would still know of the vampires. It was always best to take precautions.
"And put the cloak on, there's no where to hide from the sun now. I should have come at night. You should have come at night!" Thus Jane blamed it all on the supposed newborn vampire but then shook her head with an eye roll as she sighed.
"Never mind. Would you spare a few minutes to talk, vampire?" She suggested as the wind blew in to make her cloak billow out as she paced the perimeter of the cliff almost irritably. And she tripped. She knew it was going to happen but she still was unprepared for the fall or the impact of her and the ground's meeting. The wind was blowing her face faintly and before she knew it, her face was pressed against the ground. Even though she was undoubtedly unhurt, she couldn't escape from being unfazed. It wasn't that it physically pained her, it was the concept of falling. It reminded her yet again of why she had come to the cliffs in the first place. In her years of being a vampire, many have tried and failed to make Jane meet the ground, to push her down, literally and metaphorically speaking. It had always resulted badly for the offenders but Bella Cullen, the plague, the bane, of Jane's existence had managed and the girl was just a human. Now, as her eyes stared at the ground, she realized that was where she had fallen. To the ground by the hand of Isabella Swan. Growling loudly, Jane pushed herself up and glared at the other vampire, daring him to comment when her brother's voice rang out.
She should have sensed him, smelt him, but she was too lost in her thoughts and self pity. Disgustingly, Jane lectured herself and demanded for her head to come right back down from the clouds. Now, as her twin brother stood near, she could smell him. Rolling her eyes at Alec's comment, she responded coolly.
"I am not hiding Alec. You can see me fine from where you are standing, yes?" She responded with a haughty flick of her hair while she put up her index finger to signal to the other male to wait one minute.
"And why would I be hiding from those flea carrying mongrels anyway? Are you calling me a coward?" With narrowed eyes, Jane turned back to the male with a huff as she crossed her arms over her chest with an annoyed kind of mood to the simple action.
"If I am to talk to you, or at least interrogate you, I must know your name," She pointed out and waited for his reply while shooting her brother sideways glances with raised eyebrows, like, "Really?".
